What Is XERF?

XERF is a needle-free, non-surgical multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device designed to target skin laxity and sagging. Developed by Cynosure Lutronic, XERF is introduced as one of the first monopolar RF systems able to combine two radiofrequency waves, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, on a single platform. Conventional single-frequency RF devices usually focus their energy at one particular depth. By combining two frequencies, XERF aims to deliver controlled heat to the superficial, middle and deeper layers of the skin. The goal is to support tightening not only at the surface but also within the connective tissue structures that support the skin. No needles are used and the skin surface is not broken. Following an assessment by Dr. Buket Yıldırım, a personalized treatment plan can be created based on your skin structure, the degree of laxity and the areas to be treated.

What Does XERF Do?

XERF stimulates the skin’s own collagen and elastin production to support a firmer, tighter-looking complexion. Main treatment goals include:

  • Targeting mild to moderate skin laxity on the face and neck
  • Helping to define the jawline
  • Helping to reduce the appearance of sagging under the chin and on the neck
  • Helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improving the look of loose, crepey skin around the eyes
  • Targeting skin laxity on body areas such as the abdomen, arms and legs
  • Supporting overall skin firmness and quality

How Does XERF Work?

In monopolar RF systems, energy is delivered into the skin through the treatment handpiece and completes its circuit through a grounding pad placed on the body. Controlled heat is generated in the tissues the energy passes through. This heat causes an immediate contraction of existing collagen fibers and stimulates new collagen and elastin production over the following weeks.

Dual-Frequency Technology

XERF’s defining feature is its ability to use the 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz frequencies together. Different frequencies generate heat at different depths, so treatment can be planned to target both superficial and deeper skin layers.

Depth and Intensity Settings

The device offers multiple depth and intensity levels. Treatment parameters can be adjusted during the session according to skin thickness, the area treated and the level of warmth the patient feels.

WaveFit™ Pulse Technology

WaveFit™ technology spreads RF energy across multiple pulses instead of short, high-intensity single bursts, helping tissue temperature rise in a more controlled way.

Integrated Cooling

The skin surface is cooled and protected throughout the treatment, so heat can reach the targeted layers while keeping the surface more comfortable.

Which Areas Can XERF Treat?

Treatment Area Concerns That Can Be Targeted
Full face Skin laxity, sagging, fine lines
Eye area Loose, crepey skin under and around the eyes
Lower face and jawline Loss of jawline definition, sagging cheeks
Under the chin and neck Laxity under the chin, sagging neck skin
Décolletage Loose, wrinkled skin
Abdomen Skin laxity after pregnancy or weight loss
Arms and legs Loose skin on the back of the arms, inner thighs and above the knees

Suitable areas and the treatment plan are determined after a medical assessment.

How Is XERF Performed?

Before treatment, the skin is cleansed and the area to be treated is marked. A grounding pad is placed on the body. The XERF handpiece is then moved across the planned area while RF energy is delivered. Most people describe a temporary warming sensation during treatment. The procedure can usually be performed without anesthesia. Because heat perception varies from person to person, parameters are adjusted throughout the session for patient comfort. Treatment time depends on the size of the area. Face and neck treatments can usually be completed in a single session.

How Many XERF Sessions Are Needed?

The number of sessions is planned according to the degree of laxity, the area treated and your skin structure. A single session may be sufficient for some people, while others may be advised to have an additional session a few weeks later. Since collagen production continues over time, maintenance sessions can be planned at appropriate intervals to help preserve the results.

When Do XERF Results Appear?

A slight firming effect may be noticed right after treatment. However, the main effect develops gradually as new collagen and elastin form. Results are generally expected to become visible within 8–12 weeks and may continue to improve in the following months. How long results last varies depending on age, skin structure, lifestyle and sun protection.

What Should I Pay Attention to After XERF?

Most people can return to their daily routine shortly after XERF. Temporary redness, mild warmth or slight swelling may occur in the treated area; these usually resolve on their own within a short time. After treatment:

  • Use sunscreen
  • Avoid saunas, Turkish baths and very hot environments on the first day
  • Use potentially irritating skincare products only as advised by your doctor
  • Drink plenty of water

Who May Not Be Suitable for XERF?

Treatment may not be suitable, or further assessment may be needed, in the following cases:

  • People with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
  • Pregnancy
  • Active infection, open wounds or active skin disease in the treatment area
  • Metal implants in the treatment area
  • Certain systemic conditions and conditions causing heat sensitivity
  • Advanced skin sagging that requires surgical evaluation

For this reason, your medical history, medications and skin structure should be assessed by a doctor before treatment.

How Is XERF Different from Other Radiofrequency Treatments?

Most RF devices work with a single frequency and concentrate energy mainly at one depth. XERF uses two different frequencies together, allowing tissues at different depths to be targeted within the same treatment. WaveFit™ pulse technology and integrated cooling also aim to deliver heat in a more controlled and comfortable way. Which device is most suitable is determined after an examination, based on your skin structure, the degree of laxity and your expectations. In some cases, XERF may be combined with other methods such as ultrasound-based devices, fillers or thread lifts.

XERF Prices in Ankara

XERF prices in Ankara may vary depending on the area treated, the size of the area and the planned number of sessions. For example, a treatment limited to the eye area is planned differently from one covering the full face and neck. The most accurate information can therefore be provided after a preliminary assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions About XERF

Does XERF hurt?

Most people describe a temporary warming sensation during treatment. Thanks to integrated cooling and adjustable parameters, the procedure can usually be performed without anesthesia.

Can I return to daily life after XERF?

Yes. Most people can return to their daily activities shortly after treatment. Temporary redness may occur.

When will I see XERF results?

Because collagen production takes time, results generally become visible within 8–12 weeks and may continue to improve over the following months.

How many XERF sessions are needed?

The number of sessions is planned individually. A single session may be sufficient for some people, while an additional session may be recommended for others.

Does XERF involve needles?

No. XERF is a needle-free radiofrequency treatment and does not break the skin.

Can XERF be applied around the eyes?

In suitable cases, treatment can be planned for loose and crepey skin around the eyes.

Can XERF be used on the body?

Yes. It can be used for skin laxity on areas such as the abdomen, arms, legs and above the knees.

Can XERF replace a surgical facelift?
